BERKELEY 4AM   © by Jimbow James Lee Bailey Hobow

I hear the sky's crying
In the eyes of nature.

The melting ice and broken beaches
Colors protrude to the eye,
Only to discover it's plastic.
Make more, eat more
die more.

The halls of nature are
Mother (in my eyes)
Anger bellows from every
point upon the map.

The Berkeley streets are dry and clean
The meanest thing you could do to the poor.

Food is sky high pumped into
killer cars, more corn?

Did anyone hear from the shark's
(Fin) the poles are melting.

Everyone's rushing to claim a piece of the rock.
Before the bankers rip them off.

So now everybody will have to wait and see.

******************************************* AUGUST MOON LANDFILLIAN   © by Jimbow James Lee Bailey Hobow

The landfill shore is ebbing away
as the local dogs chatter.

By chance there's only one Mocking Bird left.
The butterflies no longer come and visit.
The last bird is learning cell phone calls to car alarms.

The dead beat month of August
clashes against a somber blue sky.

The Landfillians discovered the metal market-
China is supporting the poor in America;
Something thought useless now turns into gold-
At the same time the economy is sucking us dry.

I've never seen things so uptight
Everyone is afraid of everyone else
The law seems to blink when the poor bypass,
(looking the other way).
