iPoet.com and the Homeless Poets' Cafe
GIVE - GET
Background: This site for "i"tinerant poetics (www.ipoet.com) grew out of my appreciation for the street poets of Oakland and Berkeley, those hardy eccentric souls who peddle their poetry rather than panhandle, and is organically expanding to include works "by, for, and about" other famous and not-so-famous itinerants: refugees, wandering bards, dharmna bums, beatniks "on the road," and so on. The iPoet hypothesis is that the unique experiences of the itinerant give rise to unique (and uniquely powerful) art and poetry. Yours' Truly, John Henry Linoheart. Please feel free to comment and enjoy the site, signed: John.

GET
Large was his bounty, and his soul sincere,
Heaven did a recompense as largely send;
He gave to mis'ry (all he had) a tear,
He gained from Heav'n ('twas all he wish'd) a friend.
Thomas Gray, Elegy, The Epitaph
Thank you
