Background: This site for "i"tinerant poetics (www.ipoet.com) grew out of my appreciation for the street poets of Oakland and Berkeley, those hardy eccentric souls who peddle their poetry rather than panhandle, and is organically expanding to include works "by, for, and about" other famous and not-so-famous itinerants: refugees, wandering bards, dharmna bums, beatniks "on the road," and so on. The iPoet hypothesis is that the unique experiences of the itinerant give rise to unique (and uniquely powerful) art and poetry. Yours' truly, Henry A., site administrator Please feel free to comment and enjoy the site, signed: Henry.

GIVE
- CREDIT: This project receives much assistance. I would especially like to thank my ex-wife who donated a computer table and a chair, and a place to park them (temporarily); Laura Lionnello, who generously donated an old car, and Allen Ginsberg - our spirtual father, my real father, who so generously donated to this project; also kudos to superlative service providers, LanMinds of Berkeley, and Dantor Communications of Detroit. Also to the folks with the super text editor Note Tab(tm). Also thanks to Larry Richmond of TRO Publishing, NY, and George Arevalo of the Woody Guthrie Archives for their time and expert feedback.
- NEEDS: Money for stuff; and money to help realize Allen Ginsberg's dream to "distribute monies to poor poets and nourish the imaginative genius of the land."
YOU CAN DONATE FOUR WAYS, -ONE: Support A Local Poet - find a poet and give him or her some bread, man.
OR -TWO: We consider donations of cash, old vehicles, boats, condos, anything really. At one point, circa 2000-2004 iPoet had non-profit status through another non-profit, but nothing much came of it, and we let the paperwork slide. We still accept donations in theory as always, mostly theoretical donations are what we get. When Laura L. donated the car (see above) I believe I remember that out non-profit status had expired and we figured out what the car was worth and how much she would save on her taxes if she made a tax deductible donation as she was thinking of doing, and I paid her that amount, and everybody was happy. Anything really, as long as it's actually worth something.
OR -THREE: charge a payment on your credit card through the secure PalPal "donation" button below (update 4/2/09: Button working now, first time in years! Click Away!)
OR
-FOUR: iPoet has recently entered into an *association* with online bookseller, Amazon.com. Amazon.com will pay will pay iPoet a piddling commission for all book sales attributable to iPoet (through any iPoet link to Amazon ). Our Amazon commission money ($0 in the first quarter of 2009 so far i.e. Mar 19), while never a great amount so far, goes to paying website expenses and throwing huge parties for poets:-)

GET
Large was his bounty, and his soul sincere,
Heaven did a recompense as largely send;
He gave to mis'ry (all he had) a tear,
He gained from Heav'n ('twas all he wish'd) a friend.
Thomas Gray, Elegy, The Epitaph
Thank you
