Born October 27, 1932 in Boston, USA, Sylvia Plath, daughter of German immigrants, brilliant student, triumphant poet, committed suicide at the age of 30 over a broken love affair, her marriage to English poet, Ted Hughes. Although a prodigious poet, her best known work is the semi-autobiographical novel, "The Bell Jar," about the emotional collapse of a young college student working in New York City.
