BIO: Born in Okemah, Oklahoma, in 1912, the rowdy songwriter and singer, Woody Guthrie, became a working class hero to millions of down and out Americans in the dust bowl era. In spite of opposition from entrenched interests, Woody sang out for economic democracy and the rights of the common man. Woodrow Wilson Guthrie passionately believed that 'this land was made for you and me,'* and that people have the right to farm and fish and live on the land, without incurring obligation to another.
